This course aims to provide learners with the foundational knowledge of Islam that is obligatory for every Muslim to know and practice (Fard ‘Ayn). The course covers three main modules: Aqidah (creed), Fiqh (jurisprudence) and Tasawwuf (spirituality). Each module consists of several topics that are taught in a systematic and engaging manner, using authentic sources and relevant examples. The course is designed to be interactive and participatory, to enhance their learning experience. The course is taught by a qualified instructor and is suitable for learners of all backgrounds and levels of knowledge, who wish to learn and practice their religion with clarity and confidence.

This course aims for learners to

  • To understand and affirm the core beliefs of Islam of the oneness of Allah (Tawhid), Prophethood (Risalah), and Escatology (Akhirah).
  • To equip learners with the practical knowledge of how to perform the acts of worship and the transactions that are required or recommended in Islam, such as purification, prayer, fasting, zakat, hajj, marriage, divorce, etc.
  • To inspire learners to cultivate a sincere and refined character and comprehend underlying characteristics, including repentance, gratitude, patience, pride, envy, anger, etc.

On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Articulate the essential beliefs of Islam and explain their evidence and implications.
  2. Perform the acts of worship and the understand transactions according to the rulings and etiquettes of Islam and understand their wisdoms and benefits.
  3. Identify the diseases and the virtues of the soul and apply the methods and the practices of purifying and adorning their hearts.
